Hurricane Song

Hurricane Song is written by Paul Volph. It's a story about a current even that happened and destroyed people's lives. It takes place in New Orleans. Known for jazz and musicians. Miles, is the main character a.k.a protagonist. He starts off as a hard headed stubborn teenager like the ,rest of us, but then he unfolds himself to his connection with Pops. Pops is Miles father. They both were in Hurricane Katrina. Katrina wasn't a joke. Imagine putting a huge population of people that don't have enough money to go somewhere else, in a super-dome! It isn't easy at all. There was no food! And no showers! The bathroom was all clogged up because of the users of the bathroom. There wasn't even paper towels! It was disgusting! People had to do their business on the walls! But that didn't keep Miles and Pops apart, it was that trumpet that symbolized their relationship.

At the very beginning Pops wasn't a good father to Miles. Miles parents are divorced so his mother lives in Chicago and his father lives in New Orleans. The  trumpet was Pops idol. He never let it out of site. Pops is obsessed with music. Instead of getting what Miles wanted for his birthday, which was a basketball, he gave him drums! Clearly Pops doesn't listen to what Miles thinks. Having the hurricane gave problems. In the super done there were people who would jump off the bleachers like Cyrus which whom was a crazy man. And shooting noises. It was hard. People were sick if smelling bad and having empty stomached so Miles and Pops left. Walking away from the stadium was scary. There were shooting noises and there was a fight happening. So having the trumpet in Pops hand he used it as his weapon to guard Miles from getting hurt. Now that is a total change to their relationship!

As the book was coming to the end not everything went so well. Pops had to start from scratch. They had nothing except each other. Miles became more connected with his father. His mother on the other hand wanted Miles to come home immediately. She hated the fact that the news was everywhere and she just wanted him home safely. But of course he couldn't leave his father behind. After what happened nothing would change there relationship, except marriage. The end was the end. Not of everything!

All in all I would recommend this book to readers that love stories and enjoy the emotions of what's happening inside the character. This is the end of Hurricane Song!
